Things I've seen, observed, or experienced at The Academy as a former student who's always had suspicions about the school:
- Nepotism within the faculty, staff, and student body
- Cultural Insensitivity, Microagressions, Racism
- Fat Shaming
- Homophobia and Transphobia
- Making fun of people with Tourettes and other disabilities despite volunteering for a community of people with the same disorders and disabilities
- Anti-vaxxers
- Humiliating Students
- Forcing students to speak in tongues or cry on their knees in worship in order to leave chapel (now every time I hear a song from Chapel I get very anxious and have flashbacks to Worship and Chapel at The Academy)
- Creepy Behaviors (I noticed that sometimes teachers will compliment the female students a bit too much in the older student body)
- Being guilted if you decide not to participate in going on a mission trip or SLAM (there's one specific teacher who would take me out of class to walk with her just so she could interrogate me as to why I didn't want to go/participate; most of their mission trips gave me a poverty tourism vibe/white savior vibe instead of actually going to help people)
- Lack of proper curriculum and education for the students
