Mr. Garner actually met with me at my bank office a few months ago. I didn’t know [at] the time who he was, but based on the indictment charges, it was when everything was scrambling around him.
He came to me wanting to open up 15 to 20 business accounts promising the start of a healthy relationship. He told me he needed to move the money around in various accounts so that he had a way of tracking them in his mind. What it really meant he was doing was trying to hide it.
Right as he moved a couple hundred thousand in the account, I found this website. My superiors at the bank determined it was not safe or healthy for the bank’s reputation to house his accounts.
When I called him to let him know, he responded “God has a plan for me, and he has a plan for you. The right thing to do is to ignore the naysayers and trust that my money [and] my plan is greater than what your bank is telling you.“ It made no sense to me and I promptly told him I was not interested in moving this relationship further.
A few weeks after that, he stood trial.
