We have been made aware of an “independent investigation” being conducted by an organization called GRACE.

GRACE has been “engaged” (read: hired/paid) by GOD to perform this investigation. Whether that will impact the outcome remains to be seen.

Regardless, we know the remaining members are strategically vying for leadership/control while trying to publicly distance themselves from Gregg and his behavior. However, you will notice from recent submissions to our Personal Stories page…the misconduct was never limited to Gregg alone.

IT IS SYSTEMIC.

”Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment (GRACE) has been engaged by Church Community for GOD (CC4GOD), GOD International (GOD Int'l), the Institute for GOD (the Institute), and the Academy for GOD (the Academy) to conduct an objective and independent investigation of allegations and assessment of past and current policies, procedures, protocols, and training. The Academy for GOD is under scrutiny, per a recent article from The Nashville Banner.

It’s one thing for a private Christian K-12 school to receive federal dollars only to dole out a subpar education with inconsistent testing and curriculum transparency.

It’s an entirely different issue when the school’s founder and former headmaster (Gregg Garner) is embroiled in a sex scandal.

As mentioned in a previous post, Gregg has since stepped down from his position of leadership at the school. We can’t say who is currently filling this role, because the faculty page remains missing from The Academy’s website.

However, you can view the now removed faculty page that was archived on May 14th, 2025 here (formatting is weird, so you may have to scroll down for some time to get to the faculty bios section). Alternatively, you can view the July 17th, 2020 archived page here.

While not yet verified, we have been told Gregg is hiding out at a hotel he and/or the organization owns in Uganda (The Elephant Oasis, website operated by Genovations Media).

What is confirmed—Tara Garner has filed for divorce in Davidson County.

There has still been no official acknowledgement of Gregg’s departure from any of the organization’s public-facing websites or social media accounts.

Former members of the organization have shared off-the-record testimonies of Gregg grooming vulnerable young women.

Former students of The Academy for GOD have shared stories of alarming experiences while enrolled in the school.

Parents of former students have also reported questionable behaviors from school faculty.

Every parent is faced with the choice of what type of school/education feels right for their child.
